From Still to Motion

I’m really proud to announce that my co-authors Rich Harrington, Matt Gottshalk, Jim Ball, and I have begun production on a new book called From Still To Motion: A Photographers Guide to Creating Video with your DSLR.

As avid photographers and videographers our selves we are super excited about DSLR video and all of the exciting possibilities that it opens up. The book is being published by Peach Pit Press and should be out in late winter early spring. Besides need to know technical information the book features practical guides to lenses, lighting, preproduction, postproduction and hundreds of tips hard won in the field.

We have a Facebook fan site for the book which you can check out HERE. I’ll be posting a lot more about the book as we progress along.

Color 1.5 New Features

Color 1.5 New Features

Yes, I’m a Color addict and evangelist! Last week I just completed a new title for Lynda.com called Color 1.5 New Features. The title which has about 25 separate movies and covers all the new workflow and new features of Color should be available soon. Also in late September I will be recording a revision to Color Essential Training for Lynda.com. Essential training starts from the ground up and is a great way to get familiar with the app.

More soon!

DVD Studio Pro Revision

DVD Studio Pro

Another book I did this summer also with Rich Harrington was a revision of the Apple Pro Training Series book DVD Studio Pro.

Here is the write up:

Updated for DVD Studio Pro 4.2.2, this best-selling, Apple certified guide uses striking real-world footage to build four complete DVDs and share a Blu-ray disc. It covers how to use DVD Studio Pro on its own, as well as how to integrate it into your workflow with Final Cut Pro 7, Motion 4, and Compressor 3.5. Each lesson takes you step-by-step through an aspect of DVD creation and finishing, with hands-on projects for you to complete as you go.

You’ll learn to storyboard your DVD and plan its interactions, set chapter markers, build still and motion menus, and add overlays and subtitles. You’ll also work with multiple audio tracks and camera angles, create smart buttons and custom transitions, professionally encode audio and video files, and build useful scripts.

Written with Rich Harrington, this book breaks new ground and provides much needed info and best practices on integrating these two major sets of software. Here is the write up:

How do you manage large amounts of media and a multitude of formats for multiple software applications? In Video Made on a Mac, you’ll learn the answers and much more. Chock-full of practical advice and step-by-step instructions, each chapter provides insight on the critical components of production and postproduction that can make all the difference when you’re up against a tight budget and schedule. It’s been a while!

I haven’t posted here in quite some time. I’ve been super busy finishing up a book and online training projects and of course a boat load of color grading. There is lots to tell I’ll dedicate the next few posts to detailing on the amazing projects I’ve been working on for the past couple months.

In Honor of Michael

This is amazing!

Woah… Extreme Golf!

Ok this one might be the craziest thing I’ve seen in a while. I mean I’ve played some of the best par 3’s in the country like …ok no I haven’t, but this par 3 is crazy! 26s to have the ball land! 1400 feet below the tee box! Oh and did I mention the take a helicopter to the green! Btw these guys are hitting drivers to a par 3!
